Hello, Omolara Dada…
WHAT ROLE DO YOU CURRENTLY WORK IN?
Social Media Asssociate
WHO DO YOU CURRENTLY WORK FOR?
WHAT DID YOU STUDY IN THE UNIVERSITY?
WHAT INITIATED THE CAREER CHANGE?
I lost interest in engineering even before I graduated from school, I started thinking about a career path in branding and communications.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES YOU’VE FACED IN THIS JOURNEY?
Handling brands across different industries, from FMCGs to Banks to NGOs, you have to make sure you are vast in those industries to be able to create content for them.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU THEN AND WHAT DRIVES YOU NOW?
What inspires me is that I am a woman of excellence, I always want to excel and get to the top of my field and it’s still the same thing driving me now.
HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED ANY CHALLENGE STEMMING FROM YOUR GENDER?
Not related to this field, I have been fortunate to work with people who value gender equality.
IS THERE ANY MYTH IN THIS FIELD THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY?
Social media marketing is not for an inexperienced person, it’s not a job that should be handled with levity, you’re the person behind the brand so any mistake from a handler reflects poorly on the brand.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF 5 YEARS FROM NOW?
Working in a top media and communications outfit in America/UK.
DO YOU HAVE ANY FORM OF ADVICE FOR ENTHUSIASTS AND PEOPLE CURRENTLY IN THE CREATIVE FIELD?
Just keep doing the work, a lot of what the job entails are things you learn by doing, tweaking and doing all over again.
